These are a few of my favorite things

The rain, the sea, flowers, autumn, spring, summer, coloring books, books, running babies that have just learnt to walk, drooling babies, potpourri, lights, candles, watching the rain, snow, babies, me, friends, toys, lakes, rivers, mountains, sunsets, long drives, long drives in the rain, music, ginger-tea, paint, colors, stacks of towels, stacks of yarn, green lawns, puppies, kittens, wrapping paper, receiving packages in the mail, the Sunday morning extended ginger-tea-time in bed looking out at our tree from the window, the leaves on the road in fall, watching the rain in Bangalore, a summer afternoon at home in Bangalore reading the Sunday Times with the musical background of the street vendors' voices outside, Vishu and me sitting quietly engrossed in our own thoughts in the living room, an intense game of risk with my friends, emails from friends, ingredient listings on the back of grocery cartons, milk, chips, chocolate, chocolate ice-cream, chocolate fantasy at Coffee Day Bangalore, Potato Bun, T.V, Coorg, Mauritius, Mt. Shasta, fireworks, T.V Commercials in India, Tumkur open-dosa, filter coffee, Indian plum cake, sleeping, waking up early on a weekend, a roaring fire in the fireplace, photographs, bubble baths, blue skies, stars, the full moon, playing with my nieces, banana bread, long lunches with friends at work, ad jingles, songs, songs from the sound of music, Neela Aasman so gaya in Amitabh's voice, Neela Aasman in Vishu's voice.

    The Cake which never fails Recipe

    Ingredients

    2 cup Maida (All purpose floor)
    1.5 cup Sugar
    1 cup Refined oil
    4 Eggs
    1 Spoon essence
    1 to 1.5 Spoon Butter
    1 spoon Baking powder

    PreHeat the oven to 356 degrees F /180 degrees c, coat oven tray with oil/butter

    In a large bowl mix the ingredients in the following order.
    Oil, Eggs stir well
    Add maida slowly keep stirring it and mixing it so that it doesnt become dry.
    Add essence, suger, butter.
    Mix well so that the batter is consistent
    Spread mix in the tray, sprinkle some raisin,cashew and walnut
    Heat for 45 mnts

    You can add a banana for the taste.

  2. Ok, so this one is my favourite

    Ingredients
    Small Ricotta Cheese box- Think its 32 Oz
    3 cups sugar ( or acc. to taste )
    3 Cup Whole milk
    3 Cup Half and half (Double whole milk if no half and half)
    little saffron
    2 tbsp chopped pistachios ( green not salted )
    1 tbsp chopped Cashews
    1 tsp cardamom powder

    Preheat oven at 325F for 10 mins
    Gently press the riccota cheese with paper towel to remove excess water. (Just like some times we have water in curd)
    Place the cheese and sugar in a bowl and mix well, taste and add more sugar as per taste.
    Put this mixture in a baking tray so that the layer is not thicker than 1 inch
    Bake it for atleast 35 mnts till u think its done(I usually check it by pricking a fork), dont make it brown.
    In a sauce pan add milk and half-n-half and boil on a low flame for 15-20 mins.Till the milk appx half.
    Add the sugar saffron, pistachios and cardamom powder to it.
    Let the baked cheese cool down, Cut the baked cheese into 1"X 1" cubes and add these to the milk mixture give one boil.
    Put it in the freeze.
    Serve cold.
